Description
Released in 1997 Kovea’s Original Camp1 was the first stove available in Korea to utilize a hose to remotely attach to a pressurized gas canister. It’s convenience, performance, and reasonable price combined to make it the best selling burner in Korea and is referred to as Korea’s national burner. The Camp1 has continued to see minor tweaks and improvements over the years resulting in the latest iteration – the Camp1+.
While many of the design features of the Camp1+ are taken for granted today it was a game changer when released. At that time most canister powered burners were direct mount, meaning the burner screwed directly onto the fuel canister, raising the burner height and giving limited support making the burner somewhat unstable. The Camp1+ provides three collapsible pedestal-feet for stability of the stove and four collapsible pot supports to allow for larger pots but maintain a compact form factor when folded up for transport.
Design
There’s a reason the Camp1+ is such a good selling stove – compact and light enough for backpacking or adventure moto, stable and powerful enough for car camping and overlanding it’s an eminently versatile single burner.
Performance
One difficulty with all gas stoves is the variability of performance at altitude and low temperature. The Camp1+ utilizes a copper gas heating pipe to preheat the fuel before combustion to increase vaporization and flame stability improving performance at all altitudes and temperatures.
Limited Edition
As with all of the 40th Anniversary collection, the Camp1+ 40th AE comes with a custom carrying case, and a black and gold colorway that will never be released again. They have been produced in extremely limited quantities and just a select few available to the US Market. Get one before they are gone for good!
